Weekly Fishing Report with Jeff Cottini – 9/20/19

The Mountain Reporter fishing report covers Big Bear Lake, Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear Lake, Lake Silverwood and Lake Gregory with a weekly report covering baits, fishing spots and other tips you will need to know to give you the best advantage for your fishing trip.

Local Lake Reports

Big Bear Lake:

Trout bite has been fairly good lately. Boat and shore anglers have been doing good. With the cooler weather the trout have been active. Shore anglers have been hooking up early in the morning along the north shore, in front of Red house and towards buoy line. Carolina rig with long 3′-4′ leaders with power bait or nightcrawlers have been working well. Drifting slip bobbers have been working as well. Big Bear received a trout plant last week from CDFW.

Green Valley Lake:

Still a decent bite going on at GVL. They also received a small stock last week of 200 lbs from CDFW. Anglers have been having luck on Fisherman’s point and both sides of dam. Mini jigs, mice tails and power bait have been working well. Early morning or early evening is the best times to fish.

Arrowbear Lake:

No Reports.

Lake Gregory:

The trout fishing has been pretty good lately. Anglers have been doing well in Trout Cove and Baseball field cove. Mini jigs, power bait, micetails and nightcrawlers have been the ticket. Early morning and early evening is the best times to fish.

Silverwood Lake:

Catfish and striper still being caught off the marina docks on cut bait and nightcrawlers. Early morning is the best time to fish.

This weeks catch of the week is Mountain Top Anglers member David Sanchez and son with a nice rainbow trout caught at Green Valley Lake.
