At 6:05 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018 the CHP had an incoming call of a white SUV hitting a tree on Highway 18 south of Cactus Flats OHV Staging Area. The reporting party said that the vehicle was partially blocking south bound lanes and there was a female crying and possibly injured. Two medical units and the CHP were dispatched. CHP arrived on scene at 6:19 pm, calling for a flatbed tow tow. At 6:28 pm fire had blocked all lanes of Highway 18. Injuries were reported as minor and CHP Officer advised to cancel additional units responding at 6:22 pm because injuries could be handled on scene. Lanes cleared were cleared by 6:34 pm at the same time the rig from Big Bear Tow arrived on scene.
