Pilot Rock Truck Trail – The Day Trip Everyone Can Enjoy

By Jordan McMichael

Now this is an adventure you don’t want to miss! Pilot Rock Truck Trail (2N33) is easily accessible to all 4WD equipped vehicles, this trail will take you from the Grass Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant which is located just past the Grass Valley Dr. and Hwy 173 intersection, and the trail will end at the overlook of the Cedar Springs Dam. This trail could be completed in either direction so you can start at the Dam near Hesperia Ca. Or you can start right up here in our back yard.

Pilot Rock Truck Trail can be accessed year round, but do keep in mind that road conditions may vary depending on weather. There are endless activities to take part in on this adventure. From the initial excitement of off-road driving to the serene expanse of Lake Silverwood. Some thrill seekers may even dare to hike up to the Pilot Rock Lookout, and scale the massive boulder. You will be rewarded with one of the most amazing views of our beautiful mountain. The trail is 12.6 miles one-way so at off-road speeds I would recommend you allot a minimum of 3 hours for the journey. So strap on your boots pack a lunch and I can’t wait to see you all out there!
