Weekly Fishing Report with Jeff Cottini – 9/27/19

The Mountain Reporter fishing report covers Big Bear Lake, Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear Lake, Lake Silverwood and Lake Gregory with a weekly report covering baits, fishing spots and other tips you will need to know to give you the best advantage for your fishing trip.

Local Lake Reports

Big Bear Lake:

The trout bite has picked back up. With the cooler weather the trout have been more active. Big Bear lake has been stocked with trout 2 weeks in a row for next weekends 15th annual Western Outdoor News Trout Fest taking place October 5th-6th 2019. Anglers have been having luck in front of Red house and shoreline by dam. Inflated nightcrawlers and power bait on Carolina rig with long leaders are getting it done. Early morning or early evening is the best times to fish.

Green Valley Lake:

Fishing has been excellent. Trout have been active lately. GVL just received a fresh stock of 800lbs rainbow trout from Jess Ranch hatchery on Thursday Sept 26th. Anglers have been having luck in the early morning and evening on Fisherman’s point and both sides of dam. Mini jigs, spoons, power bait and pink trout worms have been working well.

Arrowbear Lake:

No Reports

Lake Gregory:

Trout fishing has been decent. Anglers are still hooking up in trout cove and baseball field cove. Mini jigs, power bait and inflated nightcrawlers have been working well. Early morning or early evening is the best times to fish.

Silverwood Lake:

Catfish and striper fishing still decent off the marina dock in the early morning. Cut baits and scented nightcrawlers are the baits of choice.

This weeks catch of the week is Mountain Top Anglers member George Aguilar with a nice stringer of rainbow trout at Green Valley lake caught on pink trout worms by the dam.
