Today’s outlook for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

…Good Morning Weather Watchers….

This morning we had fog lying on Lake Gregory that made for a beautiful morning view….

….Today, we will see increasing high clouds from the SW. The fog that has been hanging on the Rim should clear out today. The Valley is clear this morning as a NE flow aloft is scouring out the moisture from the recent rains. Surface pressure this morning at Tonopah is at 1031.5, Daggett is 1027.3, and San Diego is at 1024.2mbs. So overall, we will have a weak offshore flow across most of the area. Currently at Paivika Ridge the winds are 10-20mph from the NE with clear skies. …..Today we are under a transitory ridge of High pressure that will move East by tomorrow. The winds locally will turn to the SW as a Long Wave Trough passes through the West Monday and Tuesday. As the Trough arrives, we will see increasing SW winds and clouds, with a slight chance for a shower, mostly Monday night into Tuesday morning….
…. As the Trough departs Wednesday, the winds will turn to the NE behind the departing Trough becoming gusty from 10-30mph. Along with the gusty winds, cold air advection from the Great Basin will keep temperatures on the cool side locally for Wednesday, and Thursday. Humidity and PWAT levels will be very low but due to the recent rains, the Fire Danger levels will be very low as well….
…. On the longer range outlook, another weak looking system with a Sub Tropical moisture feed will arrive over the weekend. Rain or showers will be possible from this system late Saturday and Sunday as it looks this morning…
…… As always in the mountainous areas, Weather can change rapidly, so be sure to carry your tire chains, a warm blanket and a sheet of plastic to lay on while installing tire chains in your vehicle. Black Ice can hide around every corner so use extra caution while driving. Yesterday there were several accidents on our local roads due to ice on the roadways. Please be careful out there! RC
