Weather Report 1/7/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:
Good Morning.
Overnight a little rain and snow at the higher elevations fell across the local mountains. Rainfall amounts were under 1/10th of an inch..
….Today we will have partly cloudy skies with a chance for a shower this morning as a weak Trough moves out to the East.
… Behind the departing Trough, A weak Ridge of High pressure will quickly build in across SoCal with slightly warmer temperatures and mostly clear skies for Tuesday….
… Wednesday, another Trough will move onshore to our North. This will again bring rain to the Central and Northern parts of California while SoCal will have partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for a light shower…
… Thursday, SoCal will be clearing out with mostly clear skies while we are in between systems….
….Then, Friday through Monday, there will be a good chance for rain through that period as it looks this morning. Rain possibly heavy at times will be likely, turning to snow over the weekend during that time frame, especially at the higher elevations. ..
…The long range outlook shows another system behind that…
… Overall, it looks like we will be entering a wet pattern later this week with snow on and off through the period. This may be a good time to make sure you have extra gas for generators, and your vehicle has its Winter supplies. Just in case….
… This is a long way out on this forecast but I thought this was worth sharing. …
…The NWS put out a bulletin this morning stating a prolonged wet period with a subtropical feed could be arriving later this week. So they too have some confidence in the longer range outlook.
