TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Currently an area of Low pressure is just off of Point Conception. Rain is spreading South along the West Coast toward SoCal and should arrive here by mid morning. This system will bring mostly rain to the area as the snow levels will be pretty high, around 7k’. Rain will last through around 7pm tonight with .50-1.25″ expected from this system. Clouds, Fog, Rain and wind, along with a chance for Thunderstorms this afternoon will all be in the days Forecast. Currently there are lots of Lightning strikes showing on the GOES17R GLM satellite loop of of Point Conception.
…Friday, We will be in between system for most of the day. Partly cloudy skies and gusty winds will be the forecast for Friday. System #2 will arrive during the evening hours with more rain, Fog and gusty winds at times through Saturday night. The snow levels will begin around the 7k’ level again but will lower to around the 5k’ level by the end of this system. The Big Bear, Running Springs, Green Valley Lake and all areas above the 6000′ level should expect to see some snow with accumulations from 2-5″ at the higher elevations.
…Saturday will be mostly cloudy with showers through most of the day. Snow may fall to the 5000′ level by Saturday evening for whatever is left of this storm. Winter Driving conditions will exist throughout the mountains so plan accordingly.
…Sunday another colder system will arrive lasting through Monday. Snow may fall to the 4500′ level through Monday evening. By the end of this series of storms we will see from 3-5″ of melted Snow/Rain for the mountains.
…On the long range Crystal Ball outlook for february, overall it looks like wet weather will be the norm through the month. RC
