Rustique Furniture Under New Management

From a Rustique Furniture press release:

RUNNING SPRINGS, CA – About ten years ago, Adam Hurlbut walked into Rustique Furniture with his resume and asked for a job building furniture. Now, he and his wife, Jennifer, are running the store.

The husband and wife team partnered with Jamie and Lisa Doeren, internationally acclaimed chainsaw and ice carvers, to purchase the retail store. Original owners, David and Christina Olmstead, plan to continue to sell live-edge slabs of raw wood at Rustique’s mill yard on Hunsaker Drive in Running Springs.

Adam Hurlbut is known for his artistic style of using reclaimed rustic wood to create organically graceful furniture pieces that will last for generations. Rustique Furniture will continue to sell handmade home décor from independent artists and will serve as a furniture showroom for original works of art.

New artists are flocking to Rustique, like Whitney Seward, who runs Henrietta’s Garden in Lake Arrowhead. Seward designs apparel, decals, and glassware with mountain and nature themes. Rhonda and Tracy Burns run Norton’s Nest in Running Springs, where they make custom pillows and reusable bags. “We love featuring local makers and artists. We hope to have gallery wall space available for additional fine art soon”, says Jennifer Hurlbut, owner.

Rustique has hosted the Mountain Arts Festival for ten years. This year, it will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, 2019. Local bands, Clearshot and Ready or Not are performing, in addition to blues artist Jimmy Reid and Gwendolyn Daniels from Running Springs, folk musicians John and Sally McGill from Crestline, and the Silver Sounds Flute Ensembles of Redlands. OG Catering and Tacos will bring their bacon-wrapped hot dogs and authentic taco cart and Nick Nack BBQ Shack will be there with their famous pulled pork sandwiches and ribs. Free children’s art has been added to the event this year, as well as pottery wheel demonstrations from Bob Presley Ceramics, linotype art activities by Sketchlyfe Studio in Redlands, and live chainsaw carving from Beard-A-Bear Workshop. Event is free to the public, all ages, and dog-friendly.
