On Thursday evening, screaming coaches from the sidelines and the sounds of football players smashing into each other under the Friday night lights was replaced by suits, cheers and celebration of the close of the 2018 Rim High School Football Season.

With winter decor around the dining hall and Christmas lights glowing in the background, pictures from the 2018 football season displayed on a projector screen. Awards were handed out by coaches and dinner was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Craig Harris, a Lieutenant with the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department and this year’s President of the Rim Football Boosters thanked all of the local businesses who sponsored the team this year.

Head Coach Joe Jurado spoke about all of the achievements and struggles the football staff and players experienced this year. He commended the boys for their dedication, hard work and commitment. Awards were handed out to the players for 4 Year Commitment, Iron Scot, All League Players, Most Valuable Players and Scholar Athlete as well as other award categories.

Other coaches spoke and many boys were recognized for their hard work during the season. Some of the boys won awards that will afford them the opportunity to play in an All League Game, the details of which will be announced soon.

Along with certificates, Letterman patches and plaques, each seniors were gifted a football that was signed by the coaching staff. The footballs were donated by Steve and Tracy Williams.

Rim Football Boosters hosted the event at the Lake Arrowhead Country Club. The Boosters is a local non-profit organization that accepts sponsorships and donations year round to support upcoming football events. The annual pancake breakfast, Spirit Packs, transportation on charter buses for far away games such as Boron and Bishop as well as the awards dinner, sponsor banners, apparel, programs for the games and any non-safety related equipment for the boys needed for the season are all expenses paid for by the Boosters. All alumni, parents, adult siblings as well as members of the community are encouraged to join the Boosters and support these hard working boys as they represent our mountain community near and far.

Local families, citizens and businesses are encouraged to sponsor the team and in return receive high-profile exposure at games with a banner displayed, honorable mentions by the announcer during the game, printed display ads in the football programs available at each home game and a thank you plaque at the end of the season among other benefits. The Boosters take sponsorships year round for upcoming football seasons.
