On Wednesday, July 31st at 1:20 PM a single call went into 911 dispatchers reporting a solo vehicle rollover on Rim Of The World Drive and Forest Road 3N14. This particular Forest Road is also known as Coxey Road, running through the forest in an area north of the Big Bear Valley.

The caller stated his last known location was heading up 3N14. Due to the fact that there was not enough location information, the first responders staged at Del Mar Mountain Road, also known as Forest Road 3N12. A friend of the involved drove down and met with the first responders to lead them to the area.

Air support was called in to help locate the injured parties but was later cancelled. Medic ambulance 281 from Big Bear Lake and Medic Truck 96 from Fawnskin arrived on scene to find the solo vehicle, a white Ford Raptor with 3 occupants that had climbed out on their own.

The three 17 year olds from Orange County were off-roading when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and flew over the side of the road and down an embankment. The vehicle crashed into a tree which prevented it from tumbling further down into the ravine.

All 3 minor occupants were in the vehicle during the accident but only one was transported to a nearby hospital with a minor head laceration. A Performance Towing arrived on scene and recovered the vehicle. The official cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
