FOREST CLOSURE UPDATE: While many of the national forests up north will reopen Thursday, the four in Southern California will stay closed. This includes the San Bernardino, with an anticipated reopening date of next Thursday, Sept 23.
Our fire danger remains high while large numbers of our fire personnel are still returning from fires up north after working 14 to 21 long days. When we say fire personnel, it includes both firefighters and fire support staff, the latter which includes employees like field recreation staff that support fires through logistics, security and public information.
We want to thank the public for their patience and understanding that has been shown during this challenging fire season.
