Frosty Weather During the 2018 Christmas Tree Lighting

The Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday night. Many local residents braved the cold night to watch the official kick-off of the Holiday Season in Running Springs.

Running Springs Fire Department transported Santa Claus to the event, presumably because his sleigh is at the North Pole getting loaded up with toys, scheduled to be delivered to children around the world in 25 days. Santa posed for pictures with this year’s Charles Hoffman Elementary’s Christmas Art Contest winners. Afterwards, dozens of children lined up to have their picture taken with him as their parents sipped hot cocoa served by The Golden Oaks.

The event, including the gifts for the contest winners, was donated by Snow Valley Mountain Resort, The Golden Oaks Seniors, Running Springs Fire Department, and Running Springs Chamber. The event happens each year on the last Friday of November.
