Forest Service Opens Campgrounds for the Season

In a statement released by Zach Behrens, Public Information Officer for the San Bernardino National Forest on 4/27/18, multiple campgrounds have been opened for the season.

“Several campgrounds opened for the season today. And more campgrounds are slated to open between now and Memorial Day Weekend”, Zack explained.

Here’s what’s opened this afternoon:

CAMPGROUND CAMPING
– Big Pine Flats
– Dogwood
– Green Valley
– Hanna Flat
– North Shore
– Pineknot
– San Gorgonio

GROUP CAMPING
– Bluff Mesa
– Buttercup
– Big Pine Flat Equestrian
– Grays Peak
– Juniper Springs
– Lobo
– Oso
– Fisherman’s (hike-in/backcountry)

Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov as late as the day before by 2 p.m., if there is availability. For example, reservations can be made on a Thursday before 2 p.m. for an arrival on Friday at or after the 2 p.m. check-in time. After that, visitors can try to find available walk-in sites (Note: Pine Knot, San Gorgonio and all group campgrounds on this list do not have walk-in sites. Reservation only.)
