Big Bear Area Fire Crews Extinguish Quarter Acre Brush Fire

On April 19th, 2019 at 8:47 am, 911 dispatchers received a report of fire in the Holcomb Valley area, north of Big Bear Lake. The exact location given was on Forest Road 3N16 and Holcomb Valley Road. A prospector looking for gold noticed the smoke and reported it.

Mercy Air Helicopter 285 (H285) with the Big Bear Fire Authority responded to the area and confirmed a blaze had in fact erupted and was burning in an approximate 50 by 50 spot. The initial size up indicated that the fire had potential for half an acre.

Units from the U.S. Forest Service Fire, San Bernardino County Fire and Big Bear Fire Authority made quick work of containing the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
