Overturned Vehicle on Highway 38, Injured Motorist Declines Medical Aid

At 1:33 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of an overturned vehicle. Multiple locations on Highway 138 came in from various callers but when Crews arrived they found the vehicle just south of Angelus Oaks. County Fire units from station 99 went on scene first, requesting an ambulance for one injured person and for the patrol unit to continue enroute from the station.

At 1:58 p.m. the patient with the vehicle signed “against medical advice” and refused medical treatment. The ambulance was cancelled, Big Bear Tow was still enroute to the scene, as was the CHP. Citizens were reportedly standing on Highway 38 in traffic, attempting to slow down oncoming vehicles while awaiting the arrival of CHP Units.

Shortly after 2:00 pm, the CHP and San Bernardino County Sheriff units arrived on scene. Big Bear Towing arrived 20 minutes later, removed the vehicle and the roadway was clear by 3:55 p.m.
