The annual California Highway Patrol – Arrowhead Office Open House and Running Springs Fire Department Emergency Services Day was held on Saturday. The event gives the public an opportunity to meet the officers and first responders that protect and serve the mountain communities.

Over at the CHP Arrowhead Office, visitors were treated to a classic car show, free food, tours of the station and patrol vehicles, and a police K-9 demonstration. Officers, staff, and volunteers were on-hand to answer questions about vehicle safety, traffic laws, winter driving tips, etc.

Next to the CHP Office, RSFD, Cal Fire, and Arrowbear Lake Fire Department had fire engines and ambulances on display. Inside the apparatus bay, kids played firefighter games and were treated to cookies, snow cones, and hot pretzels.

It was a picture-perfect day enjoyed by all. If you missed out, there will be another opportunity to meet many of our local heroes at the 13th Annual Pine Cone Festival on October 5th, 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., at Rim Nordic Ski & Snow Valley.
