TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:
Good Morning.
Today we have clear skies above the 2500′ level with fog below that in the Valley. Winds are light and variable but will likely pick up later today becoming gusty in the wind prone areas. Temperatures today will be a little below normal with highs in the upper 60 to low 70s across the area.
..An upper level Trough of Low pressure will move through SoCal today keeping temps cool and helping to deepen the Marine layer. Fog and low clouds (Stratus) will push into the IE each morning, typical for June, filling the Valley to around the 2500′ level. Above that skies will remain mostly clear. High clouds will move into the area later this weekend but no rain or moisture is in our forecast window.
..Saturday a weak Ridge of High pressure will move through the area as a result we will see a few degrees of warming locally. Then another weak Wave will pass through for Monday and Tuesday with some cooling again across the area. Gusty winds will remain in the forecast through the period as the Troughs and Ridges pass through the West.
..By the middle of next week, it looks like a Pacific High will move over SoCal and the West Coast. This will bring in warmer temperatures for the latter part of the work week ahead.
..On another note, a fire on the back side of HWY 18 late yesterday has burned around 20 acres so far as best as I can tell. Fire crews are and have been on this fire all night. HWY 18 to Lucerne Valley is scheduled to reopen this morning by around 8am today. Check with “Mountain Reporter.com” for additional information.
..As we head into Fire Season please use caution in all mountain areas. Also I will begin today posting the Fire Danger levels on the bottom of this page.(Website)

..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
