Kdog’s Road Report 4/13/18

There’s a breeze out there today… no surprise fog like yesterday brought us, but there are some gusty breezes.
The morning commute down Hwy 18 did not reveal rocks of any significant concern, but there were plenty of smaller indications that larger stones may be coming. It’s likely, too, that as the morning progresses, winds will increase, which WILL bring more rocks to the road surface. One general tip while driving Hwy 18 is to avoid driving along next to another vehicle. Stagger yourselves (not in a drinking way, but more of a not- next- to- each- other way), so that if you come around a bend and there’s a rock laying in the road, swerving is an option. If cars are riding along next to each other, swerving becomes expensive and dangerous.
Even without rocks in the road, the wind itself is still a concern, especially for high- profile vehicles, and any vehicles that are not M1A1 Abrams Tanks. Be especially careful of gusts when near canyons, bluffs, ridges, valleys, peaks, curves, peninsulas, trenches, straight stretches, paved roads, highways, streets, and driveways. Inside your closed garage you should be totally fine. I mean, don’t leave the car running inside the garage, because that presents other dangers, but at least there’s no wind there.
Oh, and it’s Friday the thirteenth today! Fun fact: This year will be one of only six during this entire century when Halloween will fall on a Friday the 13th! Mark your calendar for that one!
See you on the highway,
Kdog
