Woman and Infant Transported to Hospital After Crashing Near Snow Valley

On Tuesday, at 8:44 a.m., California Highway Patrol dispatchers received a report indicating that a solo vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The location given was just below Snow Valley Ski Resort on State Route 18. According to witnesses at the scene, a chevy Silverado was traveling downbound on Highway 18 when she hit loose cinders on the roadway. This caused her vehicle to lose control and exit the roadway. Her vehicle then crashed into a tree.

Emergency crews from the Running Springs Fire Department arrived on scene to find a female patient with moderate to major injuries. Also in the vehicle was a one year old baby, properly strapped in a car seat with no injuries. Both mom and baby were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The exact nature and extent of the injuries sustained by the mother are unknown at this time.

Highway 18 was closed to upbound traffic for a short period while Don’s Auto recovered the vehicle. California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident at this time.
