Weekly Fishing Report with Jeff Cottini – 6/21/2019

This week’s fishing report is sponsored by Lake Gregory Recreation

The Mountain Reporter Fishing Report covers Big Bear Lake, Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear Lake, Lake Silverwood and Lake Gregory with a weekly report covering baits, fishing spots and other tips you will need to know to give you the best advantage for your fishing trip.

Local Lake Reports

Big Bear Lake:

Trout bite has slowed down lately with warmer weather. Boat anglers have been doing well trolling and using slip bobbers with nightcrawlers dropped down to different depths. The North shore from the dam to Windy Point put out a few nice size trout from shore. The observatory to Juniper Point has been producing, also. Early morning or in the evening has been the best times to fish.

Green Valley Lake:

Green Valley Lake just received a fresh stock of 450 lbs. of rainbow trout from Jess Ranch Hatchery on Thursday, 6/20/19. Trout bite has been good on both sides of dam and on either point. Mini jigs or nightcrawlers on Carolina rigs have been working well. Early morning or evening is when the bite is hot.

Arrowbear Lake:

Not a lot of reports coming out of Arrowbear this past week. But CDFW stocked 1000 lbs. of rainbow trout last week so there should be plenty of trout left in the lake. Try your luck early morning from the east shore using jigs or flies.

Lake Gregory:

Trout fishing has slowed down a little at Lake Gregory. Still plenty of trout left from last week’s 1000 lb. CDFW stock. The water clarity is a little murky, so baits or jigs with scent will increase your chances of hooking up. The Shoreline in front of Senior Center has produced a few in the early morning.

Silverwood Lake:

Plenty of trout left to be caught in Cleghorn or Miller Canyon. Another good spot is by the marina docks. Drop shot minnows, mini jigs, and flies have been working well in the early morning.

Catch of the week

This weeks catch of the week is Mountain Top Anglers member Tyler Pruett with a nice 3.6 lb. rainbow trout caught at Big Bear Lake along the north shore on floating nightcrawlers.

Kid’s Corner – Fishing Joke of the Week:

Question:

Where does a fisherman go to get his hair cut?

(Answer below)

WEEKLY RIG: Jerk Bait

A jerk bait is a minnow style lure, tied directly to your line. Cast out and with slack line give it a twitch-twitch-pause action to get the fish to react.

Good luck this week folks, see you again next week!
