Local Lake Reports

BIG BEAR LAKE:

Trout bite has been best from a boat trolling lures deep. With the warmer weather the trout are holding deep or in cooler water. North shore from the dam to windy point has produced a few decent sized trout in the early morning, using inflated nightcrawlers or power bait on Carolina rigs with long leaders for you shore anglers.

GREEN VALLEY LAKE:

Fishing has been great at Green Valley Lake. Hot spots have been by the dam or shoreline by the boat house or across from the boat house on the point. Mini jigs or spoons are the ticket. For bait ‘n’ wait, inflated nightcrawlers have been working well. Plenty of fish have been stocked recently. 400 lbs. of trout from CDFW on Monday, June 10th. Plus, a private stock Thursday, June 13th of 450 lbs. of rainbow trout for this weekend’s Father’s Day kids’ fishing derby which will take place this Saturday, June 15th, from 8am-12pm. Kids fish free with paid adult.

ARROWBEAR LAKE:

Bite has picked up lately. CDFW recently stocked 1000 lbs. of rainbow trout on Monday, June 10th. Gold spoons and spinners have been working well; early mornings or evenings are the best times to fish.

LAKE GREGORY:

Fishing has been decent. With the warmer weather the trout have gone deep. Fishing from a float tube, boat or kayak will give you the advantage. Mini jigs are your best bet. Early morning bite has been best with a few being caught in the evening time along the south shore point. Pink micetails on Carolina rigs for shore anglers. CDFW stocked 1000 lbs. of trout on Monday, June 10th. So come on up and wet a line.

SILVERWOOD LAKE:

Trout fishing at Silverwood Lake has been unreal. Over 18,000 lbs. of rainbow trout have been stocked from Calaveras trout farm in the last few weeks. It’s going off in Cleghorn Canyon early morning or early evening on mini jigs spoons and power bait.

Catch of the week:

Kids Corner fishing joke of the week:

Question:
What does a fish do in crisis?
(Answer below)

WEEKLY RIG: Drop Shot Rig

Drop shot rig is a method used to keep your lure off of the ground. With the hook above the weight facing up and a tag line running down to your weight below. Cast out with your lure of choice. Retrieve slowly while bouncing your rod tip or bounce in place.
