TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

..Good Morning.
This morning there is FOG from the 5800′ level down to ~3000′. Light rain and or drizzle is falling in the clouded areas. In Big Bear the skies are clear this morning.
..Today we have a Tough across the Western States that has brought rich moisture to the lower elevations in SoCal. To our North, the moisture is much deeper. The Northern Sierras will get the first real widespread rain with snow in the higher elevations. This will be a welcome change as the Fire Season will be lessoned for now.
..Here we will have foggy skies with continued drizzle and light rain for the Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Crestline areas, all the way to the Coast throughout the day.
..Late tonight, as the Trough moves Inland over SoCal, a much colder air mass will arrive from the North. This will lower temperatures across the whole area along with the arrival of drier air. We will have partly cloudy skies tomorrow as the air slowly dries out. Also a strong pressure gradient looks likely as well with a 12-14mb pressure gradient from the SoCal Coast to the Desert areas. This will make for strong and gusty Southwest winds, Sunday through Tuesday, as the Trough axis moves across the area. Temperatures should bottom out on Monday, then slowly begin to warm up through the week ahead.
..On the long range outlook, things are kind of iffy, so for now we’ll just go with a slow warming trend though the work week.
From the Heaps Peak Cam, you can see all of Arrowhead is socked in. However, Big Bear is clear. http://lakegregoryweather.com/web-cams/
..That’s it for now! Have a good day and enjoy the changing Season. *RC
