TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Trends: Warmer then cooler with gusty winds at times.
..Today will be mostly clear with gusty NE winds at times, as the backside of a departing Trough of Low pressure moves East through the area. As the Trough moves out, a quick moving Ridge of High pressure will follow for tonight and tomorrow morning. The Winds will turn to the SW as another Trough of Low pressure arrives for Monday and Tuesday. Daytime high Temperatures will remain in the 70s for most areas between 4500-6500′ during the day and in the upper 60s above 6500′ through the next few days.
..Then things get tricky, another Trough of Low pressure will arrive for Tuesday. This system may cut off and become a Cut Off Low sitting over SW California, Northern Mexico, and Western Arizona. The models are favoring this, at this time. So we will likely see increasing clouds with a deepening Marine layer West of the Mountains along with upper level clouds and a chance for a shower Tuesday through Thursday. Fog and Drizzle in the Valleys and along the Front country will be a good possibility.
..Then for Friday another deeper Trough will move onshore along the West Coast of California.
..So as it looks this morning, we will have a series of Troughs and weak Ridges through the week ahead. Gusty winds can be expected on and off throughout the next five to seven days with mild temperatures. The system for late in the week poses the best chance for a shower as it looks this morning. The Season is changing and Fall is officially just around the corner. The leaves will be changing and those gusty Santa Ana winds will blow them all over the place as Troughs of Low pressure pass through and Ridges follow. We just returned from a very nice trip to the Northern part of the State. We ran into rain, snow, strong winds, Hot and cold temperatures. The leaves are just beginning to turn around the June Lake, and Tahoe areas.
..That’s it for today! Have a good day and enjoy the changing season. *RC
