Weather Report 8/9/18

Ron Chalfant

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
Thick smoke from the “HOLY” fire filled the air yesterday afternoon. Hopefully today we will get a break from the smoke as a more Easterly wind flow should develop. However, the HRRR smoke forecast shows a return of the plume of smoke for this afternoon. Let’s hope for T/Storms and an Easterly wind. There will be a chance for Thunderstorm development locally this afternoon and into this evening through Friday, as Monsoonal Moisture returns to the area. Hurricane John will begin to weaken this morning to a Tropical Storm as it moves North and West. We hope to see some measurable rain from John as a plume of moisture moves North into the area. Temperatures today will be a little warmer than yesterdays unless we get a blanket of smoke again. For the weekend temperatures will return to more normal temps with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Have a good day and as always, please be fire safe. RC
