Weather Report 8/16/18

Today’s lakegrergoryweather.com
Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
Thunderstorms developed yesterday afternoon along the Mountains and Desert areas bringing rain to a few areas. Big Bear reported .21″ of the wet stuff.
Today, we will have a good chance for widespread Thunderstorms beginning around 2pm and lasting through 7pm tonight. Thunderstorms today will have plenty of available moisture to produce heavy downpours in some areas along with the possibility of FLASH FLOODING. The NWS has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH for the Mountains and Desert areas of the San Bernardino region lasting through 8pm tonight. If you are in an area where heavy rain is falling or a drainage area, be aware of your surroundings for flash flooding. Go to high ground and DON’T drive through flooded roadways! If you hear Thunder, go indoors and wait for the storm to pass.
Training Thunderstorms will be possible today as well this afternoon as the Elsinore Convergent zone will become active again today. Most of the storms will dissipate by early this evening as it looks now,(@5am). Tomorrow the T/Storm chances will be much less. Temperatures across the area will be cooler today as the peak heating part of the day should be partly to mostly cloudy. PWAT levels will be from 1.5-2.0″ locally, CAPE will run from 775j/kg in Crestline to 1700 j/kg in the Big Bear area. So I expect to see widespread storms today. The Monsoonal Moisture will retreat East by Saturday and a nice weekend and early part of next week is ahead. Be sure to keep an eye on the main webpage (www.lakegregoryweather.com) for live Radar for our local area. RC
