TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
This morning if you were up early enough, you saw a beautiful sunrise. Altocumulus clouds are moving over the area and provided a very nice sunrise. There is some Virga as well but nothing will make it to the ground. We will continue to have clouds on and off throughout the day today.
..We have a complicated weather set up today. A Trough is offshore to our West, while an area of High pressure is South of SoCal off of Baja Ca. Between the two is where we are. Onshore flow is fairly strong this morning supported by both systems. The pressure gradient from San Diego to the Desert is running at ~6-7mbs. All area are reporting South to Southwest winds this morning in our local region, across the mountain. Gusty winds will taper off later today but will return this afternoon and evening. There is no fog in the San Bernardino Valley this morning but it’s not far away in the Riverside area. The Marine layer may make it into the IE again tomorrow morning before a pattern change takes shape for our area. Temperatures will be cooler today and slightly warmer tomorrow as the Trough moves through.
..Saturday we should have clear skies for the mountains with variable winds through the day. Temperatures will begin to warm up Saturday, then several degrees warmer for Sunday, and through the following week.
..A large area of High pressure over the Gulf Region will migrate West and become centered over the Four Corners States by Monday. As the High settles in, it will build strength to around 597dm by Wednesday. This will draw Monsoonal Moisture from over Mexico and the Gulf of California, or the Sea of Cortez. The typical air flow over SoCal is from the South West, (from the Pacific). When we have areas of High pressure set up over the 4 Corners States, that tends to change the prevailing winds to the East Southeast. Bringing in moisture laden air from Texas or the Gulf of Mexico region, to SoCal, or the Desert Southwest, due to the circulation of the upper winds around the High. This will also bring in much warmer and humid weather to SoCal. This will be the case beginning Sunday, and lasting through the work week ahead. We will also have increasing chances for Thunderstorms with the Tropical air mass that will be over the area. Big Bear, Green Valley Lake, Forest Falls, Running Springs, etc., will all be in a Thunderstorm threat for next week. So if you are planning a trip to those areas, be careful and check with the NWS for any severe weather bulletins, as well as on the “Lake Gregory Weather Group” Facebook page as well as on www.lakegregoryweather.com for updates as needed.
..Monday through Wednesday we will have the highest probability of T-Storms. So expect clouds on those days to build during the afternoon hours as well as a chance for a rain shower in and around any Storms that may develop. Currently the PWAT levels are expected to peak Tuesday at around 1.75″ or more. So there may be a chance for Flash Flooding in areas prone to that problem. The one fly in the ointment is as of this morning, there doesn’t seem to be much CAPE on those days, as of yet. So we’ll see what happens. More on all of this tomorrow as the models get a better handle on things. *RC
..As always, be careful with any type of outdoor fire and make sure your outdoor pets have plenty of shade and water. That’s it for now. RC*
.. Be sure to check on the Lake Gregory Weather Group, facebook page, for any radar loops or storm updates as needed.
Thank you. RC @ www.lakegregoryweather.com

These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
