TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
This morning we continue to have a fairly strong onshore pressure gradient between San Diego and the High Desert. Fog has moved into the Valley and is around 2000′ thick, AGL. This will burn off later this morning leaving mostly clear skies below, and for the mountain communities.
..An upper level Trough will persist along the West Coast through Friday, then move North and East. Scattered high clouds will pass over SoCal for the next couple of days. Temperatures will begin to cool slightly for Wednesday and Thursday then begin a slow warm up just in time for the weekend.
..As the upper level Trough moves out, a Subtropical area of High pressure will expand from old Mexico, West into SoCal. Here we will be in between the cyclonic flow (L) to our North, and the Anticyclonic flow (H) to our South and East. So we may see an increase in Humidity as well as daytime temperatures, or maybe not depending on which one ends up being the dominant area of Pressure over SoCal.
..One more item to add to the mix, currently there is a Tropical cyclone developing to our South below the southern tip of Baja. Some of the moisture from this system is looking like it will get caught up in the upper Jet stream (200mb and 500mb) and be carried into SoCal next Sunday and/or Monday. So this will be something I will be keeping an eye on in the coming days as this could bring a few showers to the area.
..As far as El Nino goes, we are still considered to be in a weak El Nino State for ENSO region 3.4(our area). The waters for our region are still running about 1*c, +or- above normal for this time of year. The above average SST’s (Sea Surface Temperatures) are expected to continue through the Summer months as is the El Nino State. For more information on the current El Nino cycle, check the El Nino page on the drop down menu. Enjoy.
..Have a good day and weekend. RC @ www.lakegregoryweather.com.

..As we head into Fire Season please use caution in all mountain areas. Also I will begin today posting the Fire Danger levels on the bottom of this page also check the wx alerts page for an in depth look at the local fire weather..(Website)

..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.

..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for the Latest on El Nino, live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake.
