Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains:
05/02/2018.

Good Morning.

Currently as of 4:30am, a band of showers is moving through the area bringing light rain below the 5500′ level, and light snow showers above the 5500′ level. At this time, it doesn’t appear from the local area webcams that the snow is sticking to the roads however, If you are driving this morning, plan extra time in case this changes and the roads do become slick.

Wet roads and fog will slow the commute in any case so plan accordingly. So far the storm total across the area is running from .50-1.00″. Some of the rain gauges are frozen this morning, so hopefully tomorrow I will have complete storm rainfall totals from across the area.

For today, scattered showers will be likely through the morning with a chance for a quick shower or two this afternoon. The main part of this system has passed through and is heading East. Wrap around moisture will be a little slower to clear out today. So partly cloudy skies with slow clearing can be expected.
Yesterday evening, Thunder Storms were visible on the local RADAR near Barstow. As that storm approached the local Mountains, most of the energy had dissipated leaving us with light showers only. A Ridge of High pressure will fill in behind the departing Low for the weekend weather.

Daytime high temperatures will go from the mid 40s today, to the low 70s by Saturday for the Mountains. Clear skies and breezy weather will be the weekend forecast. Saturday, Temperatures will peak, with the Valleys into the low 90s. Sunday, a cooling trend will begin as another trough of low pressure passes North of SoCal. As the trough passes, onshore flow will increase locally with morning fog and low clouds filling the Valley below. The area of High pressure will peak at 1020mbs Saturday. Then quickly weaken to 1012mbs by Sunday night. Offshore, Higher surface pressure (around 1020mbs) will push the Marine layer Inland for the beginning of the work week as the pressure gradient flip flops from offshore to onshore.
That’s it for now. RC

Temperatures around the area for Today and overnight:
Crestline, Twin Peaks, and Lake Arrowhead: 42-48*/34-38*
Running Springs, GVL, and Big Bear: 36-44*/32-38*
