Weather Report – 5/22/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..We continue to be under a Long Wave Trough that will bring rain, snow, and gusty winds to the area as well as a chance For a Thunderstorm this afternoon.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued by the NWS for our area through midnight tonight.
..This morning clouds and Fog are spread along the front of the mountain as well as some of the interior areas (North of the Rim) below 6000′. These will increase as the day wears on with rain beginning by early this afternoon. The center of the Low will pass over SoCal later today and this is when we will have a chance for a T-Storm. Cold air associated with this system will bring the possibility of snow to the local mountain areas above the 5000-5500′ level. 1-2″ can be expected from 5000-6000′ and 2-5″ above the 6500′ level by tomorrow morning. Sorry if you planted your garden already.
..Thursday we will begin to clear out by late morning with a slow warm up for the next couple of days. Friday and most of Saturday should be pretty nice with increasing clouds and Fog by Saturday evening.
..The next system will arrive for Sunday morning through Monday, with more rain for our area. The snow or freezing levels are expected to be higher for this next system Sunday/Monday, so as it looks now, this should bring rain only except for the highest elevations. At this time the system for Sunday. Monday looks pretty weak with only a slight chance for measurable rain. Then after this system passes, we may be in for a break from these systems coming through SoCal. However it doesn’t look like any significant warm up is in the near future.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
