Weather Report – 5/21/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
As you can see, we continue to be shrouded in Fog again today. The West Coast’s weather is being controlled by a Long Wave Trough (LWT) of Low pressure at the Eastern side of the Great Basin. Short waves will continue to spin off of the LWT for the next few days bringing lots of clouds and periods of showers to the area.
..Today we will have fog and clouds through the morning with increasing chances for showers later this afternoon as the next short wave arrives. This wave will be cold with snow levels falling to around the 5500-6000′ level at times. For the areas above that elevation, from 1-3″ of that white stuff will be possible. Below the 5500′ level from .50-.75″ of rain will be likely. Gusty winds and poor driving conditions with wet or icy roads will continue to be a problem for the next 24hours. Also with the cold upper air and the warmer low level air mixing, there will be a chance for Thunderstorms in some areas that could bring hail and or heavy downpours in the affected areas tomorrow afternoon. Depending on how much sun pokes through the clouds.
..Wednesday showers will be likely in the morning with fog and more gusty winds. Wet, or Icy roads, will be possible so plan extra time if you are driving. By tomorrow afternoon we should begin to clear out with rain/snow tapering off and a slow clearing to begin.
..Thursday through Saturday, We will finally get a short break with a chance for sun and mostly clear skies as a weak Ridge moves over the region. But don’t get to excited as another weak wave will arrive Sunday bringing another chance for showers late Sunday into Monday.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
