Weather Report – 5/18/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..There is NO FOG this morning! Clear skies will last most of the day today. An area of Low Pressure will move over the area late this evening bringing a return of Fog and Rain to the mountain communities. As it looks now, we will have two waves of rain pass through. One early in the morning tomorrow winding up around noon, then the second wave late afternoon into Monday morning. However, we may not see any break in the clouds or rain showers as these two will most likely run together as they move through the mountains.
..The first wave will bring rain to the area with snow levels running above the 7000′ level. The second wave will be colder with snow levels possibly as low as 6300′-6500′. By the time the cold air arrives locally, most of the moisture will have passed through but residual showers could bring some snow and possibly light accumulations to Big Bear, GVL and the RS areas. Additionally, early Sunday morning through mid day, and again later in the day through Monday morning as wave #2 arrives, there will be a chance for convective activity (Thunderstorms) which could enhance the rain/snow/hail accumulations in those areas affected by these localized storms.
..Monday we will be in a clearing mode after early morning showers, with clearing skies and slightly warmer temperatures. Then another weak wave will arrive Tuesday with showers returning to the area through Wednesday morning.
..This pattern looks like it may be ongoing through Memorial Day weekend as the Polar Jet is in an anomalous position for this time of year.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
