Weather Report – 5/17/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..There is a Fog advisory is in effect for the local HWYs on the front side of the mountain below 4500′ this morning.
..Yesterday we had a nice rain across the area. Rainfall totals ran from .50″-1.00″ across the area from Waterman Canyon to Big Bear.
Today we will have mostly clear skies as the area of Low pressure that brought yesterday’s weather is moving East out of the Great Basin. A Weak quick moving Ridge of High pressure will move over SoCal for today and early Saturday. The Mid-West will have lots of severe weather to deal with as our departing Low arrives on the Eastern side of the Rockies.
..Temperatures will be a little warmer today and Saturday, before the next system moves in to the SoCal region Saturday evening. More rain is expected to arrive Saturday night lasting through most of Sunday. As it looks now, this system will bring less moisture to the area in the form of rainfall. Temperatures will be a little cooler with snow levels running down to the ~6500′ level at times by Sunday morning. Big Bear may see a dusting of snow as well as Green Valley Lake. Running Springs and Arrowbear will be on the edge, so a few flurries won’t be out of the question there. This system will move out by late Sunday afternoon or evening.
..Monday and Tuesday will be a little warmer as we will under a weak Ridge. Tuesday night and Wednesday another weak system will arrive with another chance for showers.
..On the local Hwys, Fog will be likely each morning as these systems work through the area. So plan a little extra time and don’t forget to use your headlights so others can see you.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
