TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:
Good Morning.
…This morning we have light rain across the area. A weak storm will bring light showers, Clouds, and Fog, to the area through the morning hours today. Rainfall totals will be under .50″ today. Partial clearing will begin after noon today. A fairly strong pressure gradient from San Diego to the Desert will add gusty winds for our area through tonight. The Ridges and Canyon locations will have the strongest winds. The freezing levels will remain high for today’s system, around 8000′.
…Friday we will be under a weak Ridge of High pressure for most of the day, but another storm will arrive by Friday night with more rain through the day Saturday. Rainfall estimates for Saturday’s storm will be a little higher than today’s running at around 1.00-1.50″ locally. Again, the freezing level will start out at the ~8000′ level but will lower toward the end of the storm Saturday afternoon to around the 7000′ level locally. So Big Bear, Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear, and Running Springs all may see some snow Saturday afternoon or evening.
…Sunday a Ridge of High pressure will slowly build across SoCal with slow clearing from Saturday’s storm. Monday and Tuesday should be a little warmer and pretty nice days before the next wetter system arrives Tuesday night.
… This storm has the potential to bring a good soaking with it as the Atmospheric River will likely add moisture to this one. Again, High freezing levels are expected as this is another Pacific storm.
To our North, heavy rains have brought substantial flooding to many areas. Please keep those folks in your thoughts as they have had a very difficult year.
