Today’s lakegregoryweather.com
Outlook for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains….
Good Morning.
This morning we will see increasing clouds with fog likely along the Rim and local HWYs by this afternoon. Gusty SE winds will develop as a Trough of low pressure moves into the SoCal Region, today…..
.. Rain, with Snow showers above the 6200′ level will be likely throughout the day today as well as on Thursday. Rainfall amounts from this system will run from 1-2″ across the area with snowfall amounts from 1-7″ possible for the higher elevations above 6500′ through the storm…..
…This system has changed in its moisture draw and now is more tending toward colder air. This will reduce the potential for heavy rain today but Thursday still looks pretty wet. The AR moisture will pass close to SoCal with most of the heavy rain remaining offshore…..
… PWAT levels were expected to be near 1.5″ across SoCal, but now have been reduced to around .60-.80″ therefore rainfall totals will be less than originally thought. The center of the Low will pass directly over SoCal tomorrow around midday. This is when I expect to see the bulk of the rainfall arrive here. There is a slight chance for some convective activity over our area tomorrow as the Low passes through, so a Thunderstorm is not out of the equation. If so, hail, and or soft snow pellets could fall to the lower elevations for a short period of time as it did in the last system which caused several traffic and other problems locally…
…. As always, be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions this time of year. Friday afternoon through Sunday we will return to clear weather with good snow skiing for those who do. Enjoy the weather and remember to put those chains and blankets in your car. Snow is coming!
As the temperatures fall overnight in most areas to below freezing, black ice will be possible on the local roads so please be careful! Have a good day!
That’s it for now. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com RC
