Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
This morning at 3:30am when I started on my daily weather report, the valley cam was clear. Now at 5:00am, the marine layer has moved into the IE and the valley is no longer visible on the webcam.
Today we will have clear skies above the 3000′ level with a slight onshore flow. Temperatures around the mountain will be just a couple degrees cooler than yesterday for most areas. Tomorrow morning there may be fog in the valley first thing in the morning but, Santa Ana winds will develop behind a departing trough late morning or early in the afternoon. These winds will be strong and gusty for the mountains including the canyons, passes and ridges locally. Along with the gusty winds, temperatures will be much cooler as cold air advection from the North arrives with the winds.
Critical Fire Danger levels will be likely for the San Bernardino area including the mountains as humidity levels will be in the single digits at times through Saturday. Please be extra careful! One spark could be a disaster. The winds will last for around 36 hours~ so Saturday things will be much improved. However, temperatures are not expected to recover much through Sunday.
Overnight low temperatures are expected to be at or about the freezing level through Sunday, so don’t forget to turn off and drain your outdoor watering systems. Big Bear is expected to be in the 20s at night, and Crestline, Lake Arrowhead and Twin Peaks will be from 28-34* during that time with daytime highs in the 50s.
That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com.
