TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

..Good Morning.
..Trends: Cool today, then a slow warming trend, gusty NE winds.
Overnight low temperatures reached in to the low 20s in the Big Bear area and into the low 30s for Crestline and Arrowhead.
..Today will be another cool day as a short wave will pass through the flow around the deep Trough over SoCal. Daytime highs will be in the upper 50s for most Mountain areas today. We will have clear skies and light and variable winds today. The Marine layer is running around 4500′ thick this morning but the Valley is mostly clear with only hazy skies.
..By tonight, things will begin to change. The deep Trough over the West will start breaking down, and lift out to the Northeast. As it does, the winds will pick up from the NE locally, becoming gusty from 10-40mph in the wind prone areas through Wednesday afternoon or evening. The air mass will be much drier with humidity levels lowering to around 15% for a brief period tomorrow. This may prompt a RED FLAG warning for a short time tomorrow.
..Thursday, things will even out and we will return to a generally SW flow across SoCal. Temperatures will slowly warm up starting Wednesday, continuing through the first of next week. So the weekend should be a very nice one for the mountains.
