VIDEO REPORT: Bicyclist Air Lifted After Injured in Crash at SkyPark

At 4:58 pm, San Bernardino County Fire responded to a report of an injured bicyclist at SkyPark Santa’s Village in Sky Forest. While attempting to negotiate a ramp in the off road bike trail area, the rider crashed head first in the ground. The bicyclist was not coherent after regaining consciousness and it was determined that air transport to the hospital was necessary.  The bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but it was reported that the helmet was heavily damaged from the impact.

Air Rescue 6 was summoned to the scene. Medic Ambulance 91 from Lake Arrowhead transported the patient to the SkyPark employee parking lot on the south side of Highway 18, where the MedEvac chopper landed. Medic Engine 91 was also on scene and the combined crew stabilized and transported the patient to the waiting helicopter. The patient was taken to Loma Linda Regional Medical Center for treatment.

SkyPark at Santa’s Village dirt bike trails offer a cyclist opportunities to explore the forest in a safe environment. All of the highest standards of safety and professionalism are strictly followed and enforced. The SkyPark staff is also highly trained in emergency protocol when accidents occur and during this incident, proved to be a well trained team.
