Vehicle Occupants Reportedly Flee the Scene of an Accident in Big Bear

At 7:18 pm on Thursday, June 6th, a call went into 911 reporting a traffic collison on Needles Road crossing Klamath Road in the Big Bear community of Moonridge.

Authorities arrived on scene to find a crashed white Nissan Xterra. Based on evidence found at the scene, it appears that the vehicle was traveling westbound at high speeds. For unknown reasons, the female driver appeared to have lost control and collided with a tree. At some point the driver and passenger allegedly starting fighting with a person they called to help them.

Medics were called to the scene and were advised to stage out of area until San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputies and the California Highway Patrol arrived. Medics at the scene were cancelled after the occupants reportedly fled the scene on foot and were picked up by a friend after hiding in the area.

CHP and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident. No further information was available from authorities at the scene.
