Video from the incident with permission from Darren Corrigan

At 10:42 a.m. the California Highway Patrol received a series of reports indicating multiple accidents had occurred on Interstate 15 north of the 138. As heavy fog reduced visibility to 30 feet, a red sedan flipped over in the center divider and at the same time a shuttle bus crashed on the right shoulder. According to reports coming from the scene a major pile-up then occurred. Vehicles were struck going the wrong way in traffic as well. The incident has been named the Southbound Incident.

A sig alert was issued at 11:05 a.m. As of 11:44 a.m. the 15 remains closed from Oak Hills to 138. Drivers are being diverted off the freeway onto the 138 and onto Oak Hills Road as well.

Five different tow companies have been dispatched with multiple trucks responding from each tow company. At 11:33 a.m., G&M Towing had requested permission from the highway patrol to use the right shoulder to bypass the traffic backup.

Reportedly, as of 11:20 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff deputies were assisting the California Highway Patrol by escorting drivable vehicles through the various accident scenes to safety.

As of 12:35 a.m., all patients have been transported and CHP continues to work with the tow companies to remove the crashed vehicles.

At 2:04 p.m., CHP closed their incident, all lanes are open, traffic is flowing and fog has lifted.
