Two Car Accident Closes Highway 38 on Monday Afternoon

At 3:21 pm, a call went into 911 dispatchers reporting a head on collison. The location given was Highway 38 near Hatchery Lane in Sugarloaf.

A Blue Prius collided with a White Dodge Ram causing major damage to the Prius and moderate damage to the truck. Medics from Station 282 from Big Bear City arrived on scene and treated one patient. The extent of that person’s injuries are unknown at this time.

Highway 38 was closed for a short period while the CHP unit on scene pushed the vehicles off to the side. Big Bear Towing arrived on scene to recover the vehicles.

The cause of the crash is under investigation at this time by California highway patrol. It is unknown how many people were transported. The roadway was open to through traffic by 4:00pm.
