At 5:47pm on Tuesday, a traffic accident with injuries was reported on State Route 18 near Keller Peak Road in Arrowbear Lake. The California Highway Patrol (CHP), Running Springs Fire Department (RSFD), and Arrowbear Lake Fire Department (ABLFD) arrived on-scene to find a solo vehicle accident involving a white Nissan truck that was rolled over on its side. The lone occupant was out of the vehicle, complaining of minor injuries.

According to a statement made by a witness, the vehicle was traveling east (upbound) on SR-18 and as he passed Keller Peak Road, the Nissan crossed over the double-yellow lines into the opposing lane, left the roadway, hit a rock outcropping, spun 180 degrees, and rolled onto its side in the west (downbound) lane. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver was originally being transported for treatment of his injuries, however, decided part way to the hospital that he did not want to go after all. The ambulance pulled to the side of the highway and the CHP was called to transport the driver back to the accident scene. The highway was closed for a short time as the tow truck cleared the wreck. By 6:43pm, the roadway was re-opened. CHP is investigating the accident. There was patchy fog and light drizzle at the time of the accident, but it is unclear if the weather was a contributing factor.
