Big Bear Lake Presents the Spartan SoCal Beast and Sprint Weekend
The Spartans are coming this weekend to Big Bear’s Snow Summit Mountain Resort. Get ready for three action-packed days for participants and spectators alike as Big Bear unleashes the beast! The Spartan Beast is 13 miles of dubious terrain filled with 30 obstacles designed to push you to your limits and beyond.
The fun kicks off with the Spartan Open House, starting today at 3:00 pm. This exciting event is free to the public and features Q&As with Spartan staff and SGX coaches, as well as opportunities for those 14 and older to try out some of the beastly obstacles in a festival atmosphere! The Open House is followed by the Friday Kick-Off Celebration, where you’ll join the Spartans from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm for a free concert. Entry to both events is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase during the concert.
On Saturday, it’s off to the races! The first race begins at 7:30 am, with the last heat starting at 2:00 pm. Sunday is a shorter day, beginning at 7:30 am, with the last heat starting at 8:30 am. You can check out the detailed racing schedule here.

Premium Spectator Passes are available to those of you who want to experience all of the thrills of the event from the comfort of the sidelines. Premium Passes include entry to the Spartan festival, a merchandise discount card, access to music, merchandise and food vendors. But that’s not all! The Premium Passes also grant you access to Snow Summit base camp activities like the zip line, chair lift, and rock-climbing wall!
