Structure Fire in Lake Arrowhead Quickly Extinguished by Fire Crews, Sends One To the Hospital

At approximately 3:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to a reported structure fire on Yukon Drive in Lake Arrowhead. Neighbors reported that the fire may have been caused by an electric fireplace in the residence.

The occupants, weekend renters, were able to escape the blaze. Bystanders reported that a male occupant unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the fire with an extinguisher. He was later driven to Kaiser Hospital for smoke inhalation.

San Bernardino County Fire units were able to extinguish the blaze and investigators arrived on scene. Nervous neighbors watched from adjacent driveways in the early morning hours as Santa Ana winds gusted during the firefight. Responding units included BC132, ME94, ME92, ME26, ME91, MA 26, as well as U.S. Forest Service Fire and Cal Fire crews.

The home was a short term vacation rental, owned by locals who are currently out of the country but they are aware of the incident.
