Saturday, November 9, 2019 at approximately 1:04 pm, a structure fire was reported in the 800 block of W. Country Club Blvd. in Big Bear City. Battalion Chief 2807 was first unit on scene to a single-family residential structure fire. Medic Engine 282 was second on-scene and began fire attack. Due to heavy flames and smoke, crews were in defensive fire attack working the incident from the outside of the structure. From first unit on scene fire was reported knocked down within 13 minutes. The structure sustained major damage. No residents were at home at the time of the fire. One canine was lost to the fire. CAL FIRE and USFS assisted in the fire attack. The cause of the fire is under investigation by BBFD.
