Solo vehicle accident blocking Highway 18 in the Narrows

Approximately 2:49 p.m., on May 22nd 2018, a single vehicle slammed into the Mountainside and spun out, landing in the upbound Lanes blocking traffic. The location of the crash is on Highway 18 1 mile west of Lake Gregory Drive.

The driver of the silver sedan was not injured. The airbags did deploy and there was heavy damage to the vehicle.

California Highway Patrol was on scene directing one-way traffic. At some point during the accident, the driver fell off the mountain side rolling down into the bushes approximately 40 feet down. Officer Juan Quintero with Arrowhead CHP immediately ran down and brought the driver back up. Medical Services were called to the scene and was transported to the hospital.

Mountain Auto Service was dispatched to clean up the scene and remove the vehicle. As of 4:01 p.m., the roadway was reported as being clear.
