Use your favorite BBQ sauce with these amazingly easy chicken drumsticks. You can use this recipe again and again and have a different flavor profile each time; try a bourbon & brown sugar sauce for something sweet and savory and , or toss on some red-hot sauce for a spicier treat.

If you’re looking for a leaner alternative, remove the skin from the drumsticks before seasoning and cooking. I personally prefer the flavor with the skin on, because the fat helps to absorb the flavors in the rub. Either way, they’re delicious!

Slow Cooker – BBQ Chicken Drumsticks Recipe

Ingredients:

8 chicken drumsticks

2 tbsp. brown sugar

2 ½ tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. salt

1 ½ tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. chili powder

1/8 tsp. cumin

1/2 tsp. black pepper

Directions:

Combine the brown sugar, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, and black pepper in a small bowl.

Remove the skin from the chicken (if desired), and rub the seasoning mix over the drumsticks.

Place the drumsticks into the crock of your slow cooker and drizzle with ½ cup of BBQ sauce, carefully stirring to coat.

Cook on low for 4 – 6 hours, or on high for 2 – 3 hours, until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°. Serve hot with additional BBQ sauce.
