On Friday, August 2nd, the town of Running Springs kicked off their Annual Mountain Top Days with their Running Springs Parade. Downtown Running Springs was transformed into a festive evening. Parade goers enjoyed a wholesome day of family fun. Spectators watched as local businesses and organizations strutted through downtown with their unique attire, banners or homemade “floats,” and choreographed routines.

Our local heroes, including Smokey Bear attended this event. Fire fighters turned on their sirens with joy as the crowd cheered, and the forest rangers escorted our local heroes and Smokey Bear to the end of the parade for all the crowd to see. Kevin Somes of Snow Valley was the Grand Marshall of the parade as he drove around in his car through downtown, waving to all the cheerful parade goers. Every float and routine that passed by threw out candy and goodies to the crowd so children and adults could enjoy some tasty treats.

The festivities didn’t end there; Rustique Furniture had an interactive booth for everyone of all ages to enjoy some crafts, games, and prizes during the festival. The Cut Above Salon was handing out free t-shirts, tank tops, candy, shampoo samples, bows, and much more during the parade, and they also had an after-party with food, music, and drinks behind their establishment. Neo’s Pizza, Totos, Old Country Cafe, Hillltop Chinese, Hilltop Pet Supplies, Rusty Hammer Hardware Store and B-well Massage were giving out discounts and deals for those who visited their businesses on Friday. In addition, Hilltop Auto Supply was raffling off a TV, and NRL Mortgage was raffling off gift cards to Rocky’s Roadhouse, and a Kurieg coffee maker. Mountain Thrift Shop was giving out coupons for one free movie rental to residents attending this event, and Hilltop Chinese Restaurant was giving out free fortune cookies and tea eggs for everyone to enjoy. Hilltop Pet Supplies was offering free dog treats, and pet food. Visitors to Top Producers could enjoy free cookies in their office.

Once the parade concluded, the festivities continued. The band Highway 173 rocked the town of Running Springs, while beer, wine, refreshments, and food were available throughout the night at Nohemi’s. This was a wonderful community event, enjoyable for everyone of all ages. But the festivities don’t end there. Join the community of Running Springs for their 2nd and final day of Mountain Top Days on Saturday, August 3rd for a day full of family friendly activities.
