Just after 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd, the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire responded to reports of a rollover accident on Highway 18 just below Panorama Point.

The vehicle, a white crossover SUV, for unknown reasons, lost control, hit the mountain and bounced off the center divider. It landed on the passenger side perpendicular to lanes, blocking traffic.

San Bernardino County Fire Medic Engine 25 arrived on scene and blocked traffic to prevent any secondary collisions from occurring. By 12:30 AM, the first CHP unit arrived on scene, and requested a response from Mountain Auto service with a flatbed to clear the lanes.

A few moments later a second CHP unit arrived on scene. The CHP officers traced up with the firefighters and manhandled the vehicle, pushing it to the shoulder. This opened the number one lane closest to the guardrail allowing traffic to start moving.

Mountain Auto Service arrived on scene with a flatbed just before 1:00 a.m., quickly removed the vehicle and cleaned up the scene. By 1:30 a.m. the roadway was open and the traffic that was backed up behind the accident scene was able to clear.

There were no injuries reported in this accident. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
