Rim School District Snow Days Exhausted and Counting

From a Rim of the World Unified School District press release:

Due to heavier than normal storms to the area, the Rim of the World Unified School District has called an abnormal amount of snow days recently. Our community school district allows for an allotted amount of snow days to be called during a season, while still accounting for the federally required 182 minimum days of school in a calendar year and to be released for summer vacation.

However, the influx of atmospheric rivers bringing a constant flow of the fluffy white stuff to our mountains has caused an over abundance of school cancellations based on road and weather conditions. Generally, in an effort to meet the date scheduled as the last day of school approved prior to the start of the school year, if there is an unprecedented or unpredicted number of cancellations, the district will begin to add school dates on Saturdays in an attempt to meet their obligations.

This most recent system has unfortunately caused Rim Unified to cancel the upcoming Saturday makeup day of February 23, further delaying the end of the school year until an alternate makeup day has been established.
