Rapid Response Knocks Down Vegetation Fire on Highway 38

At approximately 8:35 a.m. on July 17th, 911 dispatch received a call reporting trees on fire on Highway 38 at Baldwin Lane in Big Bear City. A multiple agency response was requested.

Fire fighters from Station 283 Sugarloaf were first on scene, reporting a 10×10 spot vegetation fire. The fire was moving up the trees and affecting nearby brush. The fire was knocked down quickly with the help of US Forest Service, Cal Fire, and crews from 282.

Fire crews remained on scene to check for any remaining hot spots. The swift action by crews from 283 stopped this fire from spreading. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Highway 38 remained open during the incident.
